HOW TO WRITE A BOOK REVIEW

Are you a fan of books? If so, other readers will always be interested in your opinions about the books you have read. Whether you like the book or not, if you give honest and detailed thoughts, people will find a new book that is right for them. If you are stuck on what needs to be said in a review, it can help imagine you talking to someone who asks you if they should read a book.

1. Start with a few sentences that explain the book.
But without giving spoilers or revealing a plot twist! As a general rule, try not to write in detail about whatever happens from the middle of the book onwards. If this book is part of a series, it will be useful to mention this, and whether you feel the need to read other books in the series to enjoy this book.

2. Discuss what you really like about the book.
Focus on your thoughts and feelings about the story and the way the story is told. You can try answering the following questions:
Who is your favorite character, and why?
Does the character feel real to you?
Does the story make you guess?
What is your favorite part of the book, and why?
Are certain types of scenes very well written - for example sad scenes, tense scenes, mysterious ones...?
Does the book make you laugh or cry?
Does the story grip you and make you turn the page?

3. State whatever you like about the book
Talk about why you think it doesn't work for you. As an example:
Do you expect the ending to not be a cliffhanger because you feel frustrated?
Do you find it difficult to care about the main character, and can you find out the reason?
Is the story too scary for you to like, or does it focus on a theme that you think is not interesting?

4. End your review
Summarize some of your thoughts about the book by suggesting the type of reader that you would recommend for the book. For example: younger readers, older readers, fans of relationship drama / mystery stories / comedy. Are there books or series that you will compare?

5. You can give a book ranking, for example a value of five or ten, if you want!
In this way someone will be more curious about the book you read if you give a good rating and vice versa.
