ABOUT TULUNGAGUNG REGENCY

Tulungagung Regency is one of the districts located in East Java Province, Indonesia. The central government of Tulungagung Regency is in Tulungagung District. Tulungagung is well-known as one of the largest marble producing areas in Indonesia, and is located 154 km southwest of Surabaya City, the capital of East Java Province.

Topographically, Tulungagung is located at an altitude of 85 m above sea level. The northwest part of Tulungagung Regency is a mountainous region that is part of the Wilis-Liman Mountains. The central part is the lowlands, while the southern part is the mountains which are a series of the Kidul Mountains. To the northwest of Tulungagung, precisely in Sendang District, there is Mount Wilis as the highest point in Tulungagung Regency which has a height of 2552 m. In the middle of Tulungagung City, there is Kali Ngrowo which is the child of Kali Brantas and as if dividing the City of Tulungagung into two parts: north and south. This time is often called Kali Parit Raya from the Kali Parit Agung series.

Tulungagung is well-known as one of the largest marble producers in Indonesia, sourced in the southern part of Tulungagung. Tulungagung is also one of the centers of the marble industry in Indonesia, and is concentrated in the south of Tulungagung, especially in the District of Campurdarat, in which there are many marble artisans, unfortunately at present the best quality marble is up. Marble assets from Tulungagung have penetrated the international market. In the same area, there is also an onyx industry that has similar marble quality. In addition to the marble industry, Tulungagung also grows and develops various small and medium industries including producing household appliances, batik, and confection including embroidery. Some famous batik in Tulungagung include Tulungagung Batik (very minimal), Satriomanah Batik, and so on. In the District of Ngunut there are industrial equipment such as backpacks, belts, uniforms, tents and snacks such as atomic nuts. In Ngunut Subdistrict there are also quality brick and tile industries. In the village of Sembung, it is also known as the center of the rambak cracker industry. Whereas in the northern part of the mountains, namely Sendang Subdistrict, there is a dairy cow and tea company. The fishing industry, and brown sugar also Tulungagung is also not defeated, this has been known nationally. One of them is the Modjopanggung Sugar Factory in Kauman District.
